Okay, so we’re not above a little shock value but we figured if this image graced the cover of Time magazine this week it was safe enough for our audience.
What struck us about this image was not so much that it was provocative or that the mom looks completely disinterested in that kid (by the way is that kid a model or what we can’t tell) but rather that it was so comical that all Time accomplished was to set themselves up for some of the best commentary across the web ever – none of which seems favorable for Time.
This week’s Time magazine cover features Jamie Lynne Grumet, a 26-year-old woman breastfeeding her three-year-old son. Grumet was one of four mothers photographed by Time for a cover story on “attachment parenting,” an approach–outlined by 1992′s “The Baby Book” by Dr. Bill Sears–that recommends extended breast-feeding, co-sleeping and “baby wearing.”
The funniest thing about this cover are the comments it generated on Yahoo, Twitter, Facebook, and pretty much anywhere people go to demonstrate their wit.
This was our favorite from Yahoo –
Kyle – “The media thinks they are keeping us abreast on what they think is a titillating story, but they are really just milking it.”
