Yammer – A Social Network For Your Company

by editorinchief on April 17, 2012

Virable is testing a new social networking platform, Yammer. Yammer is a ‘closed-loop’ social network for businesses looking to utilize the communication advantages social networks provide but in a private environment.

At first glance, Yammer is similar to earlier versions of Facebook, but with the added flexibility of creating private invite-only networks with sub-grouping. As an example, Ford, a Yammer user, can have one master network with sub-groups such as; engineering, marketing, distribution, etc. Members of sub-groups can join multiple groups and tap into the communication streams of each.

We’ll be testing Yammer over the next month and will be reporting periodically on the results. Until then – from the Yammer site.

Yammer has the same level of usability as great consumer software like Facebook and Twitter, but its applications have been designed for business collaboration.
